So blog number two: in case you missed the title I'll be writing about Gluten today.
Gluten is a Latin word meaning "glue" it is the composite of two proteins called Gliadin and Glutenin. These exist, joined with starch, and endosperms (haha yes I said sperms) of some grass-related grains, notably wheat, rye, and barley. Gluten is easily obtained because it is not water soluble so just rinsing the starch and endosperms off leave the gluten. Gliadin and glutenin comprise about 80% of the protein contained in wheat seed. Worldwide, gluten is an important source of nutritional protein, both in foods prepared directly from sources containing it, and as an additive to foods otherwise low in protein. The glutenin in wheat flour gives kneaded dough its elasticity, allows leavening and contributes to chewiness in baked products like bagels.
Between .5 and 1 percent of people in the United States are sensitive to gluten due to Coeliac disease. Coeliac disease is caused by an abnormal immune reaction to partially digested gliadin. Now it just so happens that 5 out of 13 of my immediate family members are allergic to Gluten. Now I'm no math major (although one of the people in my family allergic to gluten is a math major, I'm not telling who) but that's quite a bit more than .5 or 1 percent... So non-glutenized products have become a norm while eating at my immediate families house'.
Now I have no problem eating gluten or not eating non-gluten or eating gluten or eating non-gluten products. But some problems arise with this allergy and most of the side-effects victimize the close family members, not those “troubled” by the allergy. Really though think about it, what does some extra gliadin do to those with the allergy? The only side effects of the “disease” are Fatigue and chronic diarrhea; so you have to use the bathroom a little more often and take naps. I would enjoy that, more bathroom reading and sleep, I need to develop this allergy...
The real side effects of gluten actually fall to those all around the family members “diagnosed” with Coeliac disease. The non-infected family member would definitely not have enough gluten in their system because gluten infected product would be pulled from the shelves and disposed of like asbestos filled insulation or Jews in the holocaust. With gluten disposed of, the aforementioned family would suffer from a lack of protein, a lack of carbohydrates (short term energy), no elasticity in dough, no chewy bagels and hours of wasted time at restaurants grilling waiters and cooks as to how they prepare food...
We'll start with the first problem of non-allergic reactions to gluten. A lack of protein; sure we can use chicken, tuna, rabbit and other meats and legumes to counter act the lack of protein, but what will those farts smell like? And when will they develop to explosive and/or chronic diarrhea? When will one get tired of eating rabbit and Lima beans? These are rhetorical questions of course but it seems to me that the very thing we are staying away from, to help improve our standard of living, is in fact creating the very same side effects without the substance that supposedly causes the original side effects.
The next issue is a lack of short term energy due to not eating bread. We get 90% of our carbohydrates from bread and wheat based items. If we eliminate the wheat we have the same exact side-effect that Coeliac disease has; Fatigue. So in that sense we might as well eat bread; we're fatigued if we do and fatigued if we don't. We just need to accept the fatigue as a part of who we are and sleep more. Now the elasticity in dough and non-chewy bagels are but a luxury, so they are dismissible. But think of the wasted hours of time spent with waiters and cooks grilling them about their practices. Just so that we can do away with diarrhea and fatigue, when in essence we are actually perpetuating the same effects by staying away from gluten!
Gluten that Reiner... This is dedicated to Mom, Marie, Sarah, Dora and Addy, Love you!

Well I Finally Did It...
I broke down and got a Blog.
Now I have always liked writing, I always excelled in high school and college classes that I had to write in. I enjoy reading books when i have the time, and i really enjoy reading magazines with articles on current events. Traditionally I have always made fun of most bloggers outside of my older brother and sister who write about they're kids and current events. My sister Marie mainly writes about Addysen, my gorgeous niece who is just walking and talking. My older brother Aaron writes about Spencer my hell raising toddler of a nephew and my niece Emma the epitome of cuteness, but he also writes about current events and boring stuff like Placer County, the Board of Something or Other and Sierra College.
What I really dislike though is out spoken pseudo-intellectuals, the people who speak up about important events or issues with a tweaked/silly viewpoint. They make comments that have no logically sound arguments but are backed by opinion and unprovable hearsay. One thing that makes me really happy is to read vague quotes that people use to express the emotions they are feeling at the moment but have no explanation to them... I make a solemn promise to try to poke fun at these people as much as possible...
Now the chances of me dropping this after a month or so are rather high, so I'm gonna have fun with this. I plan on making fun of everything I can as fast as possible because I probably don't have much time. But this first blog won't poke too much fun at anything, I just want to let all my "loyal readers" know who I am and how I do things... Now I can guarantee a couple things: 1) The only people that will actually read this seriously are people that have never met me, more power to you. 2) I am going to coin the phrase "I'm Smarter Then You". 3) I will never make a serious compliment, so if there is ever a compliment look for the sarcasm and run with it... 4) I will make fun of anybody named Bethany mercilessly. 5) I will actually make valid and sound arguments unless I am making fun of something and I need to make a silly argument to prove a point to my sound argument... 6) I use ... a lot... like all the time...
So my first name is Edwin, we'll just get that out in the open right away. My middle name is Andrew Bell, legally, and my last name is Klein. Thanks Mom and Dad; Edwin Andrew Bell Klein, try filling out college paperwork with that one... I go by Andrew, but you can call me pretty much any version of that name that you want to: Andrew, Andy, The Dude and Drew. I am 6'3" and according to Myspace "More to Love"...
I was home schooled until the 10th grade then I transferred to Valley Christian Academy. I Graduated at 17 from VCA and went to Yuba Jr College to play Baseball. I transferred after one year to Bethany University and played for them one year. The team fell apart after the season was over because the coach left, none of the starters decided to return and we all went our separate ways. I went to Missouri Baptist on a scholarship and only stayed for the fall semester. I frayed my ulnar nerve making a throw to second and had a hard time throwing again after that so i hung it up and came back and got my A.A. at Sierra College. Yes that was 4 schools in 3 years...
I have also done some traveling and have I been to England, Germany, Italy, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Oklahoma, Ukraine, Turkey, Hungary, Mexico and Costa Rica. I think these different cultures broadened my scope of things and really showed me how privileged we are to be a capitalistic society, because thats what got us the privileged standard of living. So keep up the good work Obama! You almost have us socialized, so soon, we can join the ranks of the other socialized countries and consequently lower our standard of living. (In case you haven't learned yet, that was one of those fake compliments)
I have also had some cool jobs, I have worked construction, Chevys, Monkey Cat, more construction, night security at Bethany University (haha), Starbucks, Neff Construction, Farley Construction, Start-up company Luminate Lighting, Sugar Bowl F&B Manager and more construction.(I am looking for a job, if anyone knows of anything...) Above is my resume...
So thats how I roll dawg, in a large walnut shaped nut shell...
